Introduction
In case you don't know about Tor yet, which is pretty unlikely but still I have to assume you don't, otherwise there is no point in writing this...
Tor is the only software (besides i2p) that allows truely anonymous websurfing(not pseudoanonymous like using public http proxies). It is a cascade router mix makes you a ghost on the internet. Untrackable. It is open source free software and funded by the electronic frontier foundation.
You are saying that is not possible because every computer has an IP? Yes it is possible using the onion routing technology where every computer only knows its immediate neighbours. Everything is AES 256 bit encrypted and the onion skin encryption is not breakable with computing power available today. It would take many million years to find out who you are. So much for the technology. You better read up on the Tor home page(no point in repeating here what they already brilliantly explained)! Anyway, Tor does not only allow you to surf anonymously but also to make other TCP/IP based applications anonymous. You can find a guide here:
http://wiki.noreply.org/wiki/TheOnionRouter/TorifyHOWTO
For example, you can make IRC chat, ftp servers, etc anonymous(i mean really _truely_ anonymous not pseudoanonymous like using a public proxy that might log the connections)!!!!!! The Tor documentation is excellent and non-technical people can read is with ease!!
Read the overview of Tor here:

Host a website truely anonymously on your computer But the best and greatest thing in my opinion is that you can actually host a website(with mysql, php) anonymously on your computer with an address that doesn't change!!!!!! Most Tor users don't even know about this! Anonymous and easy to find. There is nothing similar on the net!!! And best of all it is extremely simple!!! The Tor network is like an internet withing the internet. Everything withing it is not traceable and eavesdroppable(mix/onion-routed and all connections encrypted). The usual picture of the internet in technical diagrams is a cloud. Imagine another cloud in that cloud which represents the Tor network. The Tornetwork has exit nodes through which you can conntect to the "outer" unsafe internet. From the exit nodes (edge of the inner Tor-cloud) to public homepages (on the outer normal-internet-cloud) like the projectw.org board connections are not encrypted. So it would be a great idea to host all warez sites INSIDE the Tor network where nobody can find out who anybody is.

A typical Tor website address would look something like this
http://kllas8osd89f7s90s.onion/board/
(I made up this link it won't work but that is what it looks like). What does this mean for you and your friends? You can actually host a website and nobody can find out who you are. You are anonymous to the visitors of your homepage. And you have no way of finding out who your visitors are.
